Overview

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a resident technical authority for assigned applications and systems providing support to critical, national initiatives related to world-wide enterprise Information Technology solutions to ensure the availability and functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as principal technical authority and lead specialist with responsibility to ensure effective, economical, and advanced technical management of customer computing requirements for assigned systems and applications.
  • Employs broad comprehensive knowledge of emerging technologies, enterprise IT architecture, customer business processes, organizational plans, and resource requirements in accomplishment of assigned projects.
  • As the principal technical authority, performs or directs a group of IT specialists in the performance of duties and functions identified in the following paragraphs.
  • Ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of system administration services.

Requirements & Conditions

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement.
  • This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Must be registered for Selective Service
  • Disclosure of Political Appointments
  • Direct Deposit: All federal employees are required to have direct deposit
  • Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)

  • Travel may be required to perform temporary duty assignments
  • Random CI polygraph examinations may be required
  • May work irregular duty hours, nights and/or weekends
  • Information Assurance Certification may be a condition of employment
  • This is a Mission-Essential position

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for IT Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A).

Experience required includes mastery of distributed processing techniques, heterogeneous networked environments and internetworking techniques; extensive knowledge of mini/microcomputer systems; ability to lead IT systems development projects from design to support; and other related experience as described in the original posting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of the following areas:

  1. Comprehensive knowledge of IT concepts, policies, and strategies to deliver AFTAC business requirements and services.
  2. Mastery of interrelationships of IT disciplines and ability to lead IT systems development projects; ability to advise customers on new developments and technologies.
  3. Advanced knowledge of information system services and long-range information management strategies.
  4. Knowledge of advanced technology processing concepts, products, and practices to resolve complex information management system problems.
  5. Specialized knowledge of data communication technology, database management, distributed processing, client/server architectures, web processing, and life-cycle management.
  6. Mastery of installation, testing, and acceptance processes of systems/software; ability to ensure proper administration of security products and subsystems.

Additional Information

  1. Position is special-sensitive and requires SCI eligibility; non-disclosure agreement may be required.
  2. Drug Testing: This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP); must pass initial and periodic drug testing.
  3. Travel may be required; polygraph may be required.
  4. Irregular hours may be required.
  5. IA certification may be required within 6 months of assignment as per DoD 8570.01-M.
  6. Mission-Essential and Mission-Critical-Function responsibilities.

This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
