The Division of Gastroenterology at Augusta University invites applications for faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. Physicians with expertise in General Gastroenterology, Hepatology, are especially of interest. Desired candidates will participate in patient care and teaching, work collaboratively with leadership in growing the Division along with expansion or development of new basic, clinical or translational research programs. AU MCG is a thriving academic environment overall, with the Division occupying a 42,000 square feet state of the art facility with 9 endoscopy as well as 3 advanced endoscopy suites with fluoroscopy, along with outpatient clinical space adjacent to the procedure area. An adjoining 8-room dedicated clinical/translational research center is available for clinical research. Established Centers and institutes within AU provide opportunities for collaborative translational and basic research. This position is not considered to be on tenure track. Responsibilities
Growth of the clinical practice. Fostering new clinical initiatives with the Health System. Continued development of Advanced Endoscopy services. Actively participate in the teaching activities in support of students, residents and fellows. Serve as Associate Program Director for the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program Developing relationships with the community that promote the academic mission. Clinical responsibilities will consist of a set number of half day clinics per week in the Gastroenterology faculty practice site A set number of half days of block endoscopy time A set number of GI consult service Key Measures of Success
Gastroenterology Division Teaching evaluations by Gastroenterology faculty through fellow, resident and student evaluations, conference attendance/participation by faculty and fellows. These activities are reviewed annually during the faculty evaluation process. Continued participation of faculty in resident and student education. Community outreach; development of a strategy for referral of patients requiring complex care. Improvement in quality and patient satisfaction metrics Your productivity Clinical activity measured by work RVUs. Education: Fellow recruitment, board pass rate, evaluations. Participation in Resident and student education by you and Gastroenterology faculty. Service; Participation in DOM and SOM committees. Required Qualifications
A Doctorate degree and board-eligibility, or board-certification in GI is required. Assistant Professor
- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training. Associate Professor
- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Professor
- Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations. This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 1.0 and considered full-time. Assistant Professor
