You will serve as an IT SPECIALIST (APPSW) in the COMMAND OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of FLTREADCEN EAST. Open period: 09/29/2025 to 10/06/2025. Salary: $49,960 to $79,443 per year. Pay scale & grade: GS 7 – 9. Location: Cherry Point, NC. Telework: Yes—as determined by the agency policy. Travel: Occasional travel. Relocation: Not reimbursed. Appointment type: Permanent. Work schedule: Full-time. Service: Competitive; Promotion potential: 11. Job family: 2210 Information Technology Management. Supervisory status: No. Security clearance: Secret. Duties

  • You will provide advice and guidance on a wide range and variety of complex IT issues.
  • You will evaluate and recommend adoption of new or enhanced approaches to delivering IT services.
  • You will prepare and present reports.
  • You will apply software design principles, methods, and approaches.
  • You will design, write, debug, and maintain software applications that meet technical and functional requirements.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position (work role code 621, proficiency level INTERMEDIATE). Qualified in DoD 8140.03 Cyber Workforce and Navy policies.

Qualifications

FOR THE GS-9 LEVEL

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level, including:

  1. Interpreting IT policies, standards, and guidelines;
  2. Testing and optimizing system and data functionality;
  3. Identifying and defining business or technical requirements for design, development, implementation, management, and support of systems;
  4. Providing technical leadership on group projects;
  5. Evaluating proposals for IT product or service acquisitions.

FOR THE GS-7 LEVEL

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 level, including:

  1. Interpreting IT policies, standards, and guidelines;
  2. Assisting in testing and optimizing system and data functionality;
  3. Assisting in identifying and defining business or technical requirements for design, development, implementation, management, and support of systems;
  4. Evaluating proposals for IT product or service acquisitions.

In addition, four competencies are required:
