Overview
Business Consulting - Healthcare Transformation - Manager - Patient Access EY is seeking a Manager in Health Consulting with a focus on provider operations and patient access. You will manage client engagement teams, work with hospitals, health systems, physician practices, and academic medical centers to assess and redesign clinical processes, and contribute to business development on strategic accounts.
Responsibilities
Lead and mentor multidisciplinary client engagement teams; foster an innovative, inclusive, and collaborative environment. Build and maintain client relationships at appropriate levels; ensure high-quality, on-time, on-budget deliverables; monitor progress and manage risk. Drive business development opportunities and identify ways to serve clients across EY service lines. Lead provider operations work in areas including operational improvement, benchmarking and financial quantification, cost reduction/revenue enhancement, workflow redesign, and patient access initiatives (template management, template optimization, scheduling algorithms). Manage and coordinate patient access initiatives such as clinician management, template management, referral management, and scheduling algorithms in ambulatory settings. Oversee centralization of patient access functions, including contact center staffing models and engagement-channel technology. Read and interpret hospital financial statements and contracts; build complex financial models; map operational processes; plan and implement healthcare cost reduction initiatives. Support healthcare M&A, physician alignment, and margin-improvement efforts; lead full lifecycle projects from assessment to design and implementation. Drive revenue generation within existing clients and develop new prospects at C-level in large healthcare organizations. Lead and develop a team of staff and senior consultants; collaborate effectively in team settings. Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; produce work products using Microsoft Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint. Travel to meet client needs as required.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree with approximately 5 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with approximately 4 years of related experience. Approximately 4 years of healthcare consulting experience, preferably in a managerial role within a consulting firm or industry. Experience with patient access and centralized contact centers; ability to lead patient access initiatives including template management, optimization, and scheduling algorithms in ambulatory settings. Experience with centralization of patient access functions and contact center technology across engagement channels. Ability to interpret hospital financial statements and contracts, build financial models, map processes, and implement cost reduction plans. Experience with healthcare organization M&A, physician alignment, or margin improvement initiatives. Experience delivering end-to-end projects from assessment to implementation; ability to generate revenue in existing clients and develop new prospects at the C-level. Ability to manage a team of professionals; strong teamwork skills and adaptability. Strong written and verbal communication, analytical and problem-solving abilities; proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Visio, PowerPoint). Willingness to travel as required.
Preferred/Additional
Degree emphasis in Finance, Accounting, or Business; CPA, MBA, MHA, or MPH is a plus.
