Department Of Navy You will lead a group of shipwrights of varying levels of experience and assure that all work assignments are carried out properly. You will serve as an expert on installing, maintaining, modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of scaffolding, shoring systems and components. You will mentor trade employees in a wide range of work activities such as use of blueprints, specifications, and sketches to manufacture cradles and complex systems scaffolding builds. You will perform research to continually improve trade processes and keep shop personnel apprised of new technologies and procedures associated with shipwright work. You will give appropriate jobsite skills training and utilize other shop training tools. Requirements
Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This is a bargaining unit position. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. This position requires the ability to lift and/or carry loads/items up to 50 pounds in weight. This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding. This position requires that the selectee to work in small and/or confined spaces. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements.
