Overview
Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to function as the Unit Deployment Manager ensuring assigned personnel are qualified and ready to meet Air Expeditionary Force requirements.
Duties
Plans, organizes, and oversees all unit level deployment activities.
Performs analysis activities.
Provides technical guidance and recommendations to senior leadership regarding the unit deployment program.
Ensures personnel and equipment readiness.
Requirements
U.S. Citizenship Required
Males must be registered for Selective Service
Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance level
PCS may be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations if authorized; may require CONUS agreement
Subject to DoD Priority Placement Program
Mandatory UDM training including IDS/LOGMOD, AEF Reporting Tool (ART), and Pallet Build-Up/Hazardous Cargo Preparation training
Occasional travel may be required
Mission essential designation may apply; duty at duty station during closures and after delays
May require non-standard duty hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Limited area of consideration to AF Internal/AF DCIPS or DoD candidates only
Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include: facilitating personnel deployment or redeployment processing; utilizing evaluative techniques in the identification, consideration, and/or resolution of deployment issues of a procedural or factual nature; reviewing deployment related documents for applicable equipment and personnel taskings to identify deployment requirements.
OR EDUCATION:
Have a Master Degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B or J.D. in a relevant field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your college transcripts.
OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit transcripts.
FEDERAL TIG REQUIREMENT:
Time-in-grade requirements apply. One year at the GS-07 level is required for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or within the last 52 weeks. VEOA applicants must also meet TIG requirements.
KSAs:
Your qualifications will be evaluated on knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
Knowledge of methods, procedures, and skills in evaluating and performing deployment operations to identify and meet deployment requirements.
Knowledge of federal and agency deployment/mobilization concepts, principles, practices, procedures, regulations, and laws applicable to UDM management.
Knowledge of safety and occupational health principles related to safety programs and risk assessment.
Knowledge of federal planning policy and guidance relevant to the functional area.
Ability to identify, analyze, and translate complex information, make judgments, and evaluate options concerning unit readiness.
Ability to recognize inter-relationships of operating programs to integrate and analyze information to evaluate overall program status.
Education If using education to qualify, ensure transcripts are submitted. Foreign education may be used if it is determined equivalent to U.S. education.
