Digital Design Engineer
– Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Location: Huntsville, AL Position Responsibilities
Design high speed digital circuits and perform signal integrity analysis. Focus on electronic systems and electrical design, simulation and verification/validation testing of high-speed printed circuit boards (PCB) throughout full product development cycle. Provide design guidelines and support for system architecture design, board layout, product bring-up, debug, validation, and factory builds. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim or final U.S. Secret clearance post-start is required. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
3+ years for Level 3 or 5+ years for Level 4 relevant experience. Experience in digital circuit design. Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering. Ability to develop design verification plans and perform system integration. Experience in high-speed digital circuit design with signal integrity simulations for standards like 100G Ethernet, DDR3/4, PCIe. Experience in processor board design or complex digital design including processor or FPGA SoC. Experience with LTSpice or similar for circuit analysis and design. Familiarity with high-speed serial interface protocols (Ethernet, PCIe). Experience in FPGA sizing and power to support board design. Strong understanding of PCB design for manufacturing (DFM). Ability to perform post-board layout signal integrity analysis and digital high-speed design verification and validation including measurements. Ability to mentor others in digital high-speed design and analysis. Experience in schematic capture using Siemens (Mentor Graphics) Expedition Tool. Ability to operate as electrical lead to coordinate the rest of the electrical design team for complex custom electronic systems. Typical Education & Experience
Level 3: Education/experience typically through advanced technical education in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry with 5+ years of related experience. ABET accreditation is preferred but not required. Level 4: Education/experience typically through advanced technical education in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry with 9+ years of related experience.
