Position Scope and Organizational Impact The Project Accountant ensures Sagewood’s projects are financially accurate, transparent, and efficient. Partnering with project managers, finance, and operations, you will oversee project cost tracking, compliance, and reporting while identifying opportunities to improve processes. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a collaborative mindset aligned with our core values of Commitment, Quality, and Care. Responsibilities

Support monthly financial close by reconciling general ledger and project cost accounts, preparing WIP schedules, and analyzing variances. Develop and monitor internal controls, including approval workflows, vendor compliance (COI/W-9), and lien release waivers to ensure consistency across projects. Prepare and process client invoices (including AIA billing formats) with complete supporting documentation; recommend improvements to billing workflows. Collaborate with project managers and subcontractors to allocate expenses to the correct cost categories, resolve billing discrepancies, and support materials purchasing with vendors. Ensure credit card expenses are accurately coded by job code and cost category. Maintain organized records to support audits, insurance requirements, and contract compliance. Assist in onboarding and evaluating financial software tools, implementing process automations, and supporting system improvements for cost tracking and reporting. Update KPI dashboards and financial reports to provide leadership and quality teams with clear visibility into performance and project status. Contribute to lessons learned sessions and support refinement of underwriting assumptions and acquisition filters. Participate in continuous process improvement by applying structured methodologies (e.g., 5W1H) to financial workflows and reporting models. Education and Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 3+ years of accounting experience (construction accounting a strong plus). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Familiarity with project accounting software (e.g., Procore, QuickBooks) is helpful. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities. Detail-oriented with excellent accuracy in financial reporting. Fluency in English and Spanish required; Portuguese a plus. High ethical standards and ability to handle confidential information. Notary certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain). Benefits
