Assistant Store Manager at Ross Stores, Inc. Ross Stores is a Fortune 500 off-price retailer with over 2,200 stores. This role supports the Store Manager in supervising all areas of store operations, leading the team, and ensuring company standards and best practices are met in customers, associates, and merchandising. Responsibilities
Lead all company best practices and maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working. Assist in the analysis of store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall store performance. Communicate variances to company standards to the Store Manager. Ensure proper scheduling of associates to meet business objectives. Ensure compliance with all state, local and federal regulations. Ensure scheduling and completion of all associate cleaning tasks throughout the store, including restrooms. Accept special assignments as directed by leadership. Assist payroll administration including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting as needed. Assist in recruiting, hiring, training and developing non-exempt associates; ensure compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures. Assist with associate relations by communicating incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager as needed. Assist in managing and monitoring actual expenditures to stay within budget; control payroll hours as the primary controllable expense and adjust to business trends. Maintain a safe and secure environment; ensure associates understand and can execute emergency operating procedures; facilitate monthly safety meetings. Treat customers, associates, and leaders with respect; supervise and coach associates in delivering efficient and friendly service at registers, service desks, fitting rooms, and on the sales floor. Represent and support the company brand; maintain a professional appearance and a clean, easy-to-shop store environment; ensure housekeeping standards. Ensure merchandise processing and in-store marketing are completed to company standards and presented according to merchandising guidelines; manage fast recovery of merchandise to the sales floor. Assist with Loss Prevention awareness and store shortage goals; safeguard confidential information and assist in leading inventory processes and policy adherence. Provide leadership in store operations, including supervision of non-exempt associates and adherence to schedules and company policies. Qualifications And Skills
Two or more years of store or assistant store manager experience in retail. Ability to supervise, motivate, and communicate positively with store associates at all levels. Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and follow through to completion. Fluency in English; ability to work evenings and weekends. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail. Ability to use store equipment and stand/walk for extended periods; ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed. Physical Requirements
Ability to use all store equipment, including point-of-sale devices and PCs. Standing, walking, and moving around the store for up to 100% of shift; ability to bend, squat, reach, and kneel as required; push/pull and lift more than 25 lbs occasionally. Equal Opportunity Employer
