Overview

Manages the operation of a Walgreen store. Improves store sales, profitability and image through proper merchandising, protection of store assets, the selection, training and development of team members, and delivering a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience. Responsibilities/Tasks

Customer Experience: monitors and analyzes the customer service provided by team members; offers reminders, training, and encouragement, and develops action plans for improvement in both retail and pharmacy. Greets customers and clinic patients, and offers assistance with products and services. Models and shares customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer and patient experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Resolves customer complaints and helps respond to customers’ special needs. Operations

Supervises operation of the store and pharmacy, including opening/closing/changing shifts, task delegation and scheduling. Oversees cash handling and bookkeeping activities, including register counts, bank withdrawals, armored car pickups, safe deposits, change orders, and related reports. Supervises merchandising by planning and implementing sets and resets, displays, and promotional space. Analyzes inventory trends and supervises inventory management, including ordering, stock maintenance, and liquidation. Supervises receiving, stocking, pricing, returning, and transferring merchandise. Executes District Manager operational feedback and ensures store organization through hiring, scheduling, and delegation. Maintains store grounds, cleanliness, maintenance, and emergency response; ensures compliance with laws and regulations including sale of alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products. Ensures staff knowledge of computer/technology systems; coordinates with IT for system issues. Follows company policies and fosters respectful relationships; completes special assignments as directed. Daily Planning and Execution

Assigns daily operational responsibilities and sets expectations for the store team and assistant managers. Business Performance Management

Analyzes financial and performance data; develops action plans to increase sales and control costs. Reviews KPIs daily and prepares to discuss with district management. Reviews asset protection data and implements actions to reduce loss. Analyzes pharmacy performance indicators and collaborates with the pharmacy manager to enhance pharmacy performance; may serve as a pharmacy technician when necessary and allowed by law. Monitors clinic performance indicators and coordinates with the Clinic Coordinator or Manager to ensure performance and support. Business Planning

Identifies sales opportunities to ensure growth and performance of the store and pharmacy. Manages inventory levels, including ordering, maintaining stock, liquidation, and anticipating fast-selling items and seasonal changes. People and Performance Management

Manages team performance by assigning responsibilities, setting goals, providing feedback and recognition; supports employee career progression. Ensures timely completion of required training, including pharmacy training, and provides coaching. Makes hiring, promotion and termination decisions; addresses issues and disciplines as appropriate. Develops performance plans, monitors deadlines, approves compensation, and fosters teamwork and motivation. Ensures compliance with corporate policies and employment laws; maintains open communication with team members. Training and Personal Development

Participates in company/on-the-job training to improve skills; completes Walgreens School of Operations within six months in Store Manager position; follows performance improvement plans as offered. Obtains required pharmacy technician registration/licensure; pursues state-required certifications where applicable. Engages in self-development by monitoring performance and seeking best practices in retail and management. Communications

Acts as liaison between district, corporate and the store; responds to requests and implements initiatives. Seeks community outreach opportunities and assists District Manager with planning events. Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience or high school diploma/GED and 5 years retail management experience. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh as soon as possible per state requirements (no later than 12 months from start date). Willingness to work flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekends. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree. PTCB or ExCPT Certification. Three years retail management experience, including supervising others and managing assignments. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh. We will consider employment of qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records. The current salary range for this position is $50,000 - $120,000. The actual salary will depend on geography, skills, education, experience and other factors. This role will remain open until filled.
