POSITION SUMMARY
The Environmental, Health and Safety Director ensures compliance with all EHS local, state and federal laws / regulations. They will be expected to develop and execute strategic objectives targeting EHS systems & processes. Field support, auditing and continuous improvement will also be key responsibilities, requiring flexibility and some travel (20 -30%). Additionally, this position is responsible for working cross functionally with other roles in corporate, manufacturing, client installation, quality, engineering, and transportation.
FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION
Drive, update, and propose a comprehensive, multi-year strategy to continue the company's journey towards EHS performance excellence. This includes work in personal safety, environment, occupational health and process safety. The strategy focuses both on technical systems/standards, and on leadership/behavioral/cultural aspects
Provide strategic leadership and guidance for the Safety Program including people, data and budgetary responsibility.
Manage employee safety training and equipment familiarization for all locations.
Provide technical expertise, strategic leadership and support to all company facilities on regulatory compliance issues in Environment, Health & Safety.
Understand any/all potential safety hazards present; take steps to reduce/ mitigate any potential safety hazards.
Build world class safety programs leading to sustainable change in the safety culture.
Manage the EHS information and reporting, including the accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports, their corresponding analysis, and the proposition of improvement actions.
Comprehensive understanding of risk assessments of machine guarding and Incident Investigations.
Chair the Executive Safety Committee.
Oversee Industrial Hygiene Surveys and recommendations for implementation.
Serve as a technical resource for three manufacturing sites on EHS programs and processes including overseeing auditing of compliance to all regulatory requirements.
Support the field with required EHS reports for OSHA, EPA, local communities/etc.
Manage incident reporting and tracking.
Manage OSHA recordkeeping for all locations and liaison with local OSHA offices and compliance officers.
Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years' experience as safety manager.
BS/BA in safety management or related field is a must.
Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies.
Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
Manufacturing background.
