Senior Property Accountant Job Description Our real estate client is seeking a dedicated
Senior Property Accountant
with a proven history in commercial real estate or REIT accounting. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional with a high degree of initiative. Responsibilities
Full-Cycle Accounting:
Manage all accounting operations for assigned commercial properties, including balance sheet reconciliation, preparing monthly financial statements, and performing variance analysis. Cash and Reporting Management:
Monitor property cash positions, prepare monthly bank reconciliations, and consolidate monthly reporting packages for ownership. Lease Administration:
Oversee lease data implementation, manage tenant accounts, and calculate and process all tenant billings, including year-end CAM/Op. Ex. adjustments and Percentage Rent. Cross-Functional Support:
Collaborate with property management and engineering teams, as well as the managing director, to ensure accurate financial reporting and to assist with various financial analyses, including budgeting. Compliance:
Ensure all financial reporting adheres to
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) . Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
is required; a
CPA
is preferred. A minimum of
3 years
of experience in commercial real estate or REIT accounting is required, with
5+ years
preferred. Advanced proficiency with
real estate accounting software
and the
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
is a must. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a high degree of discretion are essential. Seniority level
