Overview
Construction Management Business Class Director (Water Business Group) at HDR. The primary duty is to provide strategic focus nationally on positioning HDR as a preferred provider for construction services in the water infrastructure industry. The Director leads CM business development, project delivery, and group leadership/communications, captures best practices, tools, templates, and protocols to sustain successful Construction Management delivery across the Business Group. Business Development: Maintain market intelligence on industry competition, potential partners, acquisitions and/new hires; capture HDR and competition SOQs, proposals, presentations, scopes of work with fees; ensure CM pursuit targets and Client Maintenance plans across regions; support capture planning, preproposal visits, qualifications, and proposal preparation to standardize HDR CM business development and client interaction; provide marketing support on pursuits to improve HDR’s selection hit rate; maintain a List of Major CM or PM/CM or OA/CM projects; maintain tool kit and SharePoint sites; promote best practices/tools; implement presentation/interview training for Senior Construction Managers. Project Delivery: Capture/disseminate CM delivery lessons learned; ensure use of HDR best practices, templates, and protocol for consistent CM delivery coast to coast; collaborate with other BCDs on existing projects and long-term tactical plans for water construction services; provide principal level project management and issue resolution; track costs against budget and incorporate lessons learned into future scope/fee development; maintain CM/CI resources and provide CM resource planning; lead PARR reviews and train staff to be Lead Reviewers; perform site audits; promote RAKEN Field Reporting App and update HDR Technical Guidelines; manage Newforma CA software usage and CMIS questions; update and maintain HDR Construction Management Manual and related forms and checklists for access across the Business Group. Leadership and Communications: Reinvigorate CM Practice Community with regular calls and broadcasts of wins and lessons learned; collaborate with Field Services Communications Director and other leaders; engage with CMAA, represent HDR, manage CMAA membership and awards processes, and maintain CCM designation aspirations; ensure staff development and implement CM training plans. Qualifications and People Development: Ensure WBG CM staff development and ongoing CM training. Qualifications
Preferred: - Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Engineering with 15+ years in managing construction delivery programs for water infrastructure; PE or related certifications desirable; location flexible to any US HDR office. Required: - Bachelor’s degree in a professional, architecture, engineering or related field; minimum 10 years of related experience; professional engineering registration and related technical experience; experience in leading diverse teams; ability to work with other BCDs, operations managers, and marketing managers; commitment to quality, HDR values, and employee-owned culture.
