Duties & Responsibilities
Provide jobsite construction and technical leadership for large projects Lead a multi-disciplinary on-site team (Project Leaders, Installers, Technicians, Customer Engineers, subcontractors) Represent Vertiv at daily customer meetings and coordinate daily schedules with on-site teams Lead and support start-up and site testing activities; ensure sufficient on-site manpower Maintain daily status reports to Service Management, Project Management, and sales Technical Responsibilities
Stay current on Vertiv equipment start-up, commissioning processes, and tools Stay informed on Safety Bulletins, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips Safety Responsibilities
Lead daily toolbox talks, pre-job safety walks, and corrective/preventative actions Adhere to all site and Vertiv safety policies Operate safely per guidelines; wear PPE per duties Follow work hours policy – “14 hours rule” Report all work-related accidents/injuries within 24 hours Model safety and STOP WORK authority; close corrective/preventative actions timely Administrative Responsibilities
Adhere to Vertiv Warranty process with the Project Manager Provide accurate and timely reporting (timecards, expense reports, mileage, SR/task closure, forms) Support Project Manager with technical data for project systems Maintain company property (PPE, equipment, laptop, smartphone, etc.) Customer Satisfaction Responsibilities
Communicate effectively with internal and external customers Align customer expectations daily with Vertiv activities; re-align as needed Maintain customer satisfaction per company guidelines Personal Performance Expectations
Decision-making prioritizes Safety, Quality, Timeliness, Cost, Productivity Make timely technical and commercial decisions under pressure Maintain productive utilization rate per company guidelines Adhere to dress code and safety regulations Understand and follow startup/escalation processes Lead by example with Vertiv behaviors Communicate at all levels; handle stressful situations professionally Demonstrate diplomacy with customers Qualifications
Experience (one or more): ASEET or ASMET preferred; equivalent industry experience in start-up/commissioning of power and/or HVAC equipment; six years military experience in a related field; minimum 2 years in industrial construction management Interpersonal Skills: Vertiv behavior practitioner, strong organizational skills, independent operator, strong verbal/written communication, customer relationship building, collaboration under pressure, executive presence Ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and blueprints Technical skills: on-site evaluation, reporting, leading technical activities, COHE/site acceptance testing expertise Computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, email, test equipment/data analysis programs, network familiarity Mechanical aptitude Working and Physical Conditions
Project lengths typically 4 weeks to 12+ months Travel may involve field rotations (3 weeks on-site, 1 week at home office); minimum 40 hours on billable tasks during service breaks Industrial greenfield or brownfield sites; flexible schedules including weekends/evenings/holidays Valid driver’s license; deployable for emergencies Physical Requirements
Stand, walk, use hands, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; talk, hear, and smell. Visual requirements include near/far/color/peripheral/depth; lift 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally.
