WSP is seeking a Managing Director, Project Development to join our Advisory and Planning department. About Us WSP’s Advisory & Planning business line provides consulting services to help clients deliver complex projects. The Project Development team offers strategic guidance and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including best practices, methodologies, and processes to achieve project goals while ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The team maintains governance frameworks to manage risks and enable accountable decision-making. The Project Development team consists of experienced professionals with diverse backgrounds and knowledge in alternative delivery methods across market sectors. Your Impact Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead our team of management consultants specializing in due diligence, procurement strategy, energy and social infrastructure alternative delivery, water alternative delivery, third party and project governance, civil rights advisory, and demand modeling and forecasting. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of high-quality consulting services, drive strategic initiatives, ensure client satisfaction, and meet key performance indicators for the P&L unit. Leadership and Team Management: Guide and support a diverse team of consultants; foster a collaborative and innovative environment; provide professional development opportunities; maintain motivation aligned with organizational goals. Driving Growth: Develop and implement strategic plans; identify new business opportunities; stay abreast of industry trends; manage financials, risks, and project execution to meet client expectations. Technical Expertise and Industry Knowledge: Possess deep understanding of due diligence, procurement strategy, alternative delivery methods, energy and social infrastructure, water projects, civil rights, governance, and demand modeling and forecasting; provide strategic guidance and ensure regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Team Management: Lead and manage a diverse team of consultants; provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities; foster a collaborative and innovative environment. Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong client relationships; act as a trusted advisor throughout the project development lifecycle; ensure client needs are met and expectations are exceeded. Project Oversight: Oversee implementation of consulting projects; monitor progress, address issues, and ensure adherence to best practices. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the practice; identify new opportunities and stay aligned with market conditions. Innovation and Improvement: Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team. P&L Management: Manage the P&L for the practice, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting to maintain profitability. The Consulting Services The Project Development Team Provides Due Diligence: Investor advisory due diligence, independent engineering reviews, and performance reviews to support project success. Procurement Strategy: Advise on procurement processes for alternative delivery projects; align with project goals. Third Party and Project Governance: Develop and maintain governance frameworks to align partners, manage risks, and enable accountable decision-making. Energy and Social Infrastructure Alternative Delivery: Provide expertise in delivering energy and social infrastructure projects using alternative methods. Water Alternative Delivery: Oversee water projects delivered via alternative methods. Civil Rights Services: Ensure compliance with civil rights regulations and promote equity and inclusion. Demand Modeling and Forecasting: Develop demand models and forecasts to support planning and decision-making. Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Urban or Transportation Planning, Data Sciences, Environmental Studies, Liberal Arts, Public Policy, Operations Research, Engineering, or closely related field. Graduate degree in a relevant field (J.D., M.B.A., Ph.D). Advanced proficiency and proven experience in due diligence, procurement strategy, alternative delivery methods, and/or civil rights. 15+ years of relevant post-education experience in leadership, management consulting, or client advisory capacity. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective plans. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with WSP health, safety, and harassment policies. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. Preferred Qualifications: Supervisory/management experience on major infrastructure projects; knowledge and application of P3 and other alternative project delivery methods. Compensation WSP Benefits: Expected Salary (all locations): $290,100-$325,350. WSP USA provides the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay based on the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, plus internal equity and geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to adjust pay and offer additional benefits and compensation. Colorado-specific: Expected Salary (Colorado): $290,100-$325,350, with corresponding benefits and exceptions as applicable by state law.
