Job Description And Duties
Under the general direction of the Discrimination Complaint Investigation Unit (DCIU) Manager, Staff Services Manager (SSM) II, in the Equal Employment Opportunity Program (EEOP), the SSM I, Supervisory, functions as a supervisor in the Caltrans DCIU and the subject matter expert on EEO Director's Policy and related Deputy Directives. The incumbent is a combination between a change agent and advocate for fair process. The Supervisor will assist the Department in providing a fair and equal environment, free from all forms of discrimination and harassment for its diverse workforce by performing investigations in a timely fashion.
In this capacity, the SSMI will manage DCIU efforts including but not limited to external complaints and process, data management of complaints, the complaint intake process, and the review of case reports for quality control and resolution, and training opportunities within EEOP's Training and Resource Unit (TRU).
The DCIU Unit Supervisor works closely with the Training and Resource Unit Supervisor and is proactive in the approach to DCIU complaint trends. The Supervisor demonstrates a positive attitude and commitment to providing quality service that is accurate, timely, and exceeds customers' expectations.
Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Staff Services Manager I exam. For those who do not have current eligibility (e.g., transfer, permissive reinstatement, or voluntary demotions) and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. Working Conditions
Position located at 1820 Alhambra Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95814.
This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the headquartered location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
