Overview
Reporting to the Chief Lending Officer, the Vice President of Consumer Lending is the strategic leader for Advia’s consumer lending area. This role has responsibility for line of business strategy and operations including underwriting, loan processing, servicing, as well as product, portfolio, and system administration. This role will collaborate with strategic partners inside and outside of the credit union to carry out the credit union’s core values of acting with integrity, driving progress, building and strengthening relationships, and keeping people at the core.

Major Duties And Responsibilities
Ensures that consumer loan policies, procedures, services, products, delivery channels and documentation are up to date with current regulations, meeting internal control requirements, and reflecting the credit union’s core values and mission. Includes collaboration with the Training Department to ensure staff training and adherence to policies and procedures. Researches and evaluates feasibility of new lending products. Develops and implements plans for expansion of lending programs. Stays informed on industry changes and trends to maintain competitiveness in product design, technology, and delivery channels. Monitors competitors’ rates, terms, products, and market trends; provides timely feedback for proactive competitiveness. Provides leadership, coaching and development to direct and indirect reports, fostering a culture of collaboration, trust, teamwork, communication, and forward thinking. Guides senior managers to maximize productivity, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational values. Approves and denies loans within policy guidelines and authority. Leads development of the Consumer Loan Department’s strategic plans to align with the credit union’s business plan. Recommends and ensures implementation of department goals and budget. Analyzes and completes regular loan reports. Develops procedures and reporting tools to optimize portfolio performance and service delivery. Monitors economic conditions affecting the consumer loan department and portfolio and recommends actions. Supports audits of loan files with Internal Audit to ensure loan quality and adherence to policies. Interacts with regulators as needed and resolves member complaints related to the consumer lending area. Complies with applicable laws and regulations (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act, OFAC). Follows policies and procedures to minimize risk and exercise sound judgment.
Requirements
Experience
10 to 15 years of similar or related experience, including preparatory experience.
Education/Certifications/Licenses
A college degree.
Interpersonal Skills
The ability to motivate or influence internal or external senior-level professionals is essential, requiring influence, trust, and professional written communication. Ability to obtain cooperation and agreement through complex, senior-level dialogues.
Physical Requirements
Ability to bend, sit, and stand; sedentary work with occasional lifting up to 10 lbs. Able to climb/descend stairs in emergencies. Proficient with standard office equipment and computer usage (6–8 hours daily when needed). Willing to work extended hours or travel off-site as required. Must maintain regular, reliable attendance.
