Class Summary Job Description This position is responsible for reviewing and authorizing construction plans for commercial and residential projects ensuring compliance with County and State ordinances and laws. Duties include reviewing building and site construction plans for compliance with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, life safety, accessibility, civil, utility, and other regulations. Assists and responds to design professionals, contractors, developers, other government agencies, and the general public on interpreting ordinances, laws, rules, and regulations.
Essential Duties
Reviews building and site construction plans for code compliance for architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, life safety, and accessibility. Assists and responds to design professionals, contractors, developers, other government agencies, and the public on interpreting ordinances, laws, rules, and regulations. Conducts research regarding zoning conditions and administrative questions. Enters plan and permit data and coordinates related activities with co-workers. Determines appropriate construction permit fees. Serves as lead plans examiner responsible for training and mentoring team members and resolving highly complex issues related to plan review and associated policies and procedures. Prepares code compliance reports to document noncompliance items applicable to plan review of construction projects. Produces monthly individual activity and weekly performance rating reports. Act as the primary back-up to the Plan Review Manager and assists in formulating policies and procedures. Supervises staff which includes scheduling work assignments and establishing priorities. Coordination of staff training, interviewing, hiring, counseling staff, and preparing staff performance appraisals. Assisting in creating a positive and supportive work environment, promoting a culture of teamwork and communication while supporting organizational values. Other Job Requirements/Information This job is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule after an initial probationary period and individual approval. Grade The grade for this position is 104. Salary will be dependent on education and experience.

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, interior design, construction technology, or closely related field; AND Five years of plan review or design experience; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
Must be a licensed professional engineer, architect, interior designer or successfully obtain the International Code Council (ICC) Building Examiner or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certified Plans Examiner within twelve (12) months of hiring.
