CVICU RN Job Details

  • Assignment Type: Travel Nurse / Locum Tenens
  • Start Date: November 4, 2025
  • End Date: February 10, 2026
  • Duration: 14-week contract
  • Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Salary: $1910 - $1960 per week
  • Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
  • Unit Size: 44 beds

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Kentucky or Compact RN license (required at time of submission)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU nursing experience
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (CCRN preferred)
  • Proficiency with ECMO, arterial line management, ventilator management, central line care, continuous IV sedation, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring, titration of cardiac drips, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management preferred
  • One reference from a charge nurse or supervisor required
  • COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not eligible

CVICU RN Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in a fast-paced CVICU setting
  • Monitor and manage complex cardiac conditions, including heart and lung transplants, CABG, STEMI/NSTEMI, ARDS, heart failure, vascular procedures, and advanced therapies (ECMO, LVAD, IABP, EKOS)
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, pharmacy, rapid response)
  • Maintain accurate electronic health records and complete all required onboarding and annual competency modules
  • Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed to support patient care
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital safety and quality standards, including onboarding exams and skills assessments
