ICU RN Job Details

  • Location: Evanston, Illinois 60201 (Chicago area)
  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
  • Employment Type: Travel Nurse
  • Unit: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Shift: 3x12 Hour Night Shifts (19:00 - 07:30)
  • Contract Duration: 8 weeks (Start: 10/27/2025 – End: 12/22/2025)
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Weekend Requirement: 8 weekend shifts per 8-week schedule
  • Charting System: Epic (preferred)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1770 - $1820 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or compact state
  • At least 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications required; CCRN preferred
  • Strong neurosurgical experience: EVDs, post-op craniotomy, stroke thrombectomy/TNK
  • Experience with CABG/Valve, ECMO, LVAD, TAVR, Impella, and ventilator management
  • Familiarity with Epic charting system preferred
  • Ability to float between Glenbrook, Skokie, Highland Park, and Evanston campuses
  • Must pass EKG test on first attempt (84% or higher)
  • Pending RN license accepted; local Illinois nurses welcome

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients in the ICU
  • Manage complex cardiac, neurosurgical, and post-operative cases
  • Administer and monitor advanced therapies: ECMO, LVAD, TAVR, Impella, ventilators, BiPAP, high-flow oxygen, nitric oxide
  • Care for patients with tracheostomies, laryngectomies, and those requiring conscious sedation
  • Perform and monitor procedures: IV starts, pulmonary artery lines, telemetry, ICP monitoring
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
  • Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
  • Provide compassionate support to patients and families during critical healthcare situations
