Job Summary The
Phlebotomist III - Float
serves as the face of the company and plays a pivotal role in delivering patient-centered healthcare. Responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing, this float position covers
multiple locations and roles . The Float demonstrates strong leadership and mentoring capabilities, supports onboarding of new staff, and provides daily coordination in Patient Service Centers (PSCs), long-term care, mobile environments, and in-office phlebotomy settings.
This position requires
exceptional customer service , collaboration across departments, and the ability to manage high-complexity or high-volume client practices. The ideal candidate is adaptable, confident, and skilled at both clinical execution and team coordination.
Key Responsibilities • Perform specimen collection across various clinical environments • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff • Onboard new team members and assist with client setup • Manage multiple high-volume or complex patient interactions • Act as liaison with departments including Sales, IT, Logistics, and Billing • Maintain documentation and ensure procedural accuracy • Promote organizational values and uphold patient trust
Required Experience • Minimum
5 years of phlebotomy
experience, including pediatric and geriatric patients • 3+ years in a Patient Service Center or In-Office Phlebotomy setting preferred • Customer service in retail/service environments preferred • Keyboard and data entry skills required
Nice-to-Have Experience • Exposure to long-term care, mobile, and specialty testing environments • Experience leading or coaching phlebotomy teams • Client onboarding and troubleshooting
Required Skills • Excellent phlebotomy technique, including capillary collections • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities • Clear and professional verbal/written communication • Confidence working independently and across teams • Must be available for extended coverage hours (7 AM - 7 PM)
Preferred Skills • Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, WA; preferred in VA) • Medical assistant or paramedic training background
Additional Skills • Comfort with high-complexity test orders and client needs • Able to mentor, train, and act as site contact • Demonstrated leadership behaviors and adaptability
