Description
The Division of Licensing within the Kentucky Department of Insurance oversees and facilitates every aspect oflicensing for individuals and business entities engaged in insurance transactions. The division isresponsible for ensuring that licensees comply with licensing laws and regulations, including the approval ofcontinuing education and pre-licensing course of instruction.
We are looking for a Administrative Specialist Senior to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As anAdministrative Specialist Senior, you will provide high-level professional administrative support to internalstaff and leadership related to the Division of Licensing business operations. Perform duties in the oversightof intricate processes such as activities involving mandated regulations or procedures, comprehensiveresearch, or collaboration with internal and external stakeholders; and perform other duties as required.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides high-level professional administrative support to the Licensing Division. Executes complexfunctions to process incoming insurance applications - verify statutory qualifications and determineeligibility for license. Maintain high-level knowledge of insurance laws and administrative regulations.Understand statutory business rules of the state database. Enter application information into state databasemaintaining complete confidentiality and no errors. Review and research National Producer Data Base for otherstates' license information, using data to aid in Kentucky determination. Oversees implementation andrecommends procedures regarding the regulation of insurance examinations. Proctor insurance exams as needed.Monitor and assist supervisor with handling special testing accommodation requests, resolving tester issuesand problems. Communicate determinations to applicants and off-site testing staff as needed. Proctor insurance exams as needed. Monitor and assist supervisor with handling special testingaccommodation requests, resolving tester issues and problems. Communicate determinations to applicants andoff-site testing staff as needed. Interprets insurance laws, regulations and requirements to the public. Review criminal and civilbackgrounds documents to determine approval / denial and statutory qualifications, and review felonyconvictions with management to determine whether a Consent to Engage in the Business of Insurance is required. Enter new licensee investigation cases into Consumer Protection database. Conduct research into licenserecord history to provide for investigation cases. Prepares and analyzes license record and investigation casereports for division. Review KY eServices uploaded documents and emailed documents from licensees and applicants and makeupdate in license records accordingly. Answer division emails and phone calls, providing statutoryrequirements, insurance laws, administrative regulations and licensing policy and procedures to public andother division staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Skills and Expectations include but are not limited to the following:

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Probationary Period
