Description
The Department for Community Based Services, Division of Administration and Financial Management, BenefitsBranch provides the assistance, support, and operations to provide for Medicaid and other benefits forindividuals under guardianship. The Benefits Branch is seeking a Document Processing Specialist to assist withprocessing incoming mail for both the Benefits Branch and the Fiduciary Branch within the Division ofAdministration and Financial Management. The Department is looking for an individual with the passion to helpothers.
To be a successful staff member in the Benefits Branch, candidates should be professional, polite, and able towork with a diverse population and deal with difficult situations in a calm, respectful manner. They should beresponsive, willing to meet each challenge directly, and able to ask for assistance or guidance when needed.The successful candidate must be comfortable with computers, excel at both verbal and written communications,and have the drive to meet the needs of those we serve.
The Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) participates in E-Verify and will provide the federalgovernment with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in U.S. CHFS will onlyuse E-Verify once you have accepted a job offer and completed the Form I-9.

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to: Opens mail using a semi-automated letter opener, or by hand. Extracts mail to identify appropriate actionwhile using a date stamp for recording receipt of documents. Sorts documents for distribution to the proper staff. Scans, emails, or delivers hard copy of documents asnecessary. Processes applications for birth, death, and marriage certificates as requested. Maintaining a daily log of checks received for submission to Fiduciary Branch deposit staff. Other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate will have:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attention to detail being thorough and accurate in completing tasks. Excellent organizational skills, including time management. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have three years of clerical, administrative, or accounting experience. One year of the required experience must include automated document processing.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in a document processing center.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
