Summary The Pre-Sales Application Engineer (Controls) supports the sales and marketing efforts of CIMTEC’s product lines. They review potential applications and interpret customer specifications to determine the proper equipment to be supplied.
Duties & Responsibilities
Specify/Recommend appropriate products from CIMTEC's line-card to satisfy customer needs and budget.
Conduct demonstrations and online trials of products at customer sites, trade shows, seminars, and events.
Make field service calls to troubleshoot, fix, replace, or modify existing systems and components.
Participate in joint sales calls with outside sales staff, providing technical support.
Respond to customer inquiries, requests, and complaints with urgency and ensure timely resolution.
Develop a complete understanding of the CIMTEC product line, including industrial automation control systems (PLCs), industrial communication devices, HMIs, and drives (servo & VFD).
Familiarity with modern industrial networks (Ethernet) and communication protocols (Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, etc.), and legacy serial communications (RS232/485).
Provide expertise in integrating CIMTEC line card products with devices such as Vision Systems, PLCs, HMIs, or Robots.
Deliver training on automation products for internal and external audiences.
Provide account intelligence to sales when communicating with or visiting customers to help CIMTEC win.
Travel approximately 40% to customer sites or training locations, with local/regional travel and occasional nationwide trips.
Qualifications
Experience:
5+ years of professional experience specializing in industrial controls.
Education:
BS degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering.
Technical:
Familiarity with automation brands typically used by CIMTEC including Emerson, SICK, Horner, Patlite, ABB, NIDEC Control Techniques, Pro-face, Weidmuller; understanding of basic electrical design principles using software such as AutoCAD.
Other:
A valid driver’s license. Ability to sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear; occasional standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; ability to lift up to 50 pounds; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
