Overview
LHH is partnered with a Washington, D.C.-based alternative asset management firm, overseeing a diverse portfolio of private fund strategies, in their search for a Senior Fund Accountant. Known for its entrepreneurial culture and commitment to operational excellence, the firm offers a collaborative environment where finance professionals can take ownership of fund operations and contribute to process enhancements. This Senior Fund Accountant role is hands-on and cross-functional, with exposure to fund accounting, investor reporting, audits, and liquidity management. Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages across multiple fund strategies. Reconcile NAV calculations and ensure alignment with fund terms and investor agreements. Coordinate investor communications and activity, including capital calls, distributions, and account-level reporting. Support annual audit and tax processes, including preparing financial statement footnotes and disclosures. Respond to investor inquiries with professionalism, accuracy, and a service-first mindset. Monitor cash positions and manage daily funding activity for investments and operations. Initiate and track borrowings under fund credit facilities, ensuring compliance with related covenants. Collaborate with fund administrators, external auditors, and tax service providers to ensure smooth operations and data integrity. Identify opportunities to automate recurring tasks and improve reporting workflows using Excel and other tools. Contribute to ad hoc projects and broader strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. Qualifications
2–4+ years of experience in fund accounting, public accounting, or a related financial operations role. Public accounting experience highly preferred. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidate strongly preferred. Understanding of private fund structures, investor reporting, and NAV mechanics is preferred. Advanced Excel skills — including pivot tables, macros, and data queries. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Clear communicator with strong writing and interpersonal skills. Experience improving processes or implementing automation is a plus. Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
