The Staff Services Manager II (Supervisory) (SSMII) is the full supervisory level over analytical and technical work. The SSMII is in charge of a well-established and fully developed Staff Services function. The SSMII will spend the majority of their time in supervisory activities as distinct from working level assignments. The SSMII is responsible for a complex operation that is central to the Unclaimed Property Divisions (UPD) primary mission. The SSMII has responsibilities that include management analysis and addressing personnel issues. Under the general direction of the Bureau Chief of the Support Services Bureau, the Section Chief is responsible for managing, planning, directing and controlling the activities of the Intake, Locator, Mailroom and Research & Public Response units. The section is responsible for responding to public inquiries regarding claims and property searches, processing and sorting incoming mail, scanning and entering claims into the unclaimed property system and locating claimants. The Section Chief fosters an environment that promotes the use of teamwork and integrates division and departmental values in the relationship, performance, integrity and execution of business functions. Duties Performed:

(Candidates must perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodations.) Provide leadership and guidance to supervisors and staff. Establish and communicate roles, responsibilities, standards, metrics, procedures, policies and guidelines for conduct and performance of tasks. Oversee the development and monitoring of production and staffing plans to ensure that: public inquiries are responded to timely and accurately; mail is processed and sorted and claims are entered timely and appropriately and efforts are made to locate owners of unclaimed property. Recommend operational goals and objectives, review and evaluate the section’s performance against those goals and objectives and redirect the allocation of resources, as necessary, to achieve defined goals. Oversee the management of workloads by ensuring that the section has effective systems in place to maintain accurate statistical data for tracking workloads and execution of established policies and procedures. Ensure that current program operations are operating effectively and efficiently by overseeing the processes and projects to improve the processes within the section. Develop systems for gathering and analyzing customer service feedback to improve program operations. Enforce effective personnel management practices in all aspects of managing and supervising staff, including but not limited to overseeing timely preparation of probationary reports and employee evaluations in the section, ensuring timely and appropriate hiring practices are in place and followed and ensuring that appropriate training programs are in place. Act as a member of the UPD management team in developing solutions to issues and completing short and long term planning at the Bureau and Division level. Special Requirements:
