Staff Services Manager I – Unit Manager (JC-494265) Unit Manager responsible for managing Claims Evaluation Unit 4 within the Unclaimed Property Division of the California State Controller’s Office.

Compensation & Location Salary:

$7,172.00 – $8,910.00 (minimum or alternate range based on experience)

Location:

Sacramento County, hybrid telework (Hybrid)

Job Description & Duties Under the direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Staff Services Manager I is responsible for managing, planning, directing, and controlling the activities of Claims Evaluation Unit 4. This unit evaluates and approves claims for unclaimed property, performs quality assurance, oversees studies and analysis, compiles and evaluates data to develop trends, and determines training needs.

Communicate roles, responsibilities, standards, procedures, policies, and guidelines for performance of tasks.

Develop and monitor production and staffing plans to ensure timely evaluation and approval of claims within legal requirements.

Manage workloads and maintain accurate inventory and aging data; use metrics to forecast and redirect resources.

Initiate and oversee projects to improve processes and monitor activities to ensure conformity with goals.

Maintain daily management information reports and protect integrity of data.

Act as member of UPD management team to develop solutions to business and policy issues.

Provide backup assistance to QAR SSM Is for timely approval and payment of high value claims.
