Overview
Nutrition Services Elementary Manager at Fargo Public Schools. Position is at Horace Mann Elementary School. Oversee the staff and daily production of high-quality food under sanitary conditions. Ensure customer satisfaction through exemplary service and appealing food. Job type is 31.25 hours per week with a 9-month schedule (Monday through Friday). Benefits eligible.
Responsibilities
Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
Supervise entire kitchen staff, answer questions, schedule staff, and delegate tasks.
Oversee all food production and ensure smooth workflow daily for both lunch and breakfast.
Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety for kitchen staff and in food preparation, including accurate food temperature recording and proper temperatures for storage units (freezers, coolers, hot boxes).
Determine quantities of food to be prepared each day.
Ensure book work, money counts, and deposits are completed daily using various computer programs.
Prepare and place food orders.
Train and cross-train staff.
Understand and ensure compliance with USDA Child Nutrition guidelines.
Check and approve time cards for elementary staff.
Receive and stock all food and supplies and rotate on a FIFO basis.
Collaborate with the Director of Nutrition Services on problems in food preparation, personnel, equipment, ordering, etc., and participate in developing new methods of preparation and service.
Participate in annual employee workshops and mandatory training as required.
Complete additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year of previous experience with large-quantity food preparation. Minimum 1 year of previous supervisory experience. Complete State, Department of Education, School Food Service Statewide Training Program or equivalent specified courses on a scheduled basis. Ability to problem solve under stressful situations. Good organization and math skills, ability to prepare food according to standardized recipes, and ability to remember and compute standard food measurements.
Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of previous experience with large-quantity food preparation.
