The Engineer III, Systems is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of complex systems that support Concentra's IT infrastructure. This role involves configuring and optimizing server environments, ensuring high availability and performance of applications. Engineers conduct regular system audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary security measures to protect sensitive data. Additionally, they are tasked with troubleshooting system issues, performing root cause analysis, and developing solutions to prevent future occurrences. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential for successful project deployments and integrations.

Responsibilities

System Design and Architecture.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems architecture. This includes evaluating system performance, ensuring scalability, and integrating new technologies. The role requires the engineer to develop detailed specifications for system components, conduct feasibility studies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business objectives. Additionally, the engineer will troubleshoot system issues and optimize existing architectures for improved efficiency.

Systems Configuration and Management.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for configuring, deploying, and maintaining server environments. This includes installing operating systems, applying patches, managing user accounts, and ensuring optimal performance through regular monitoring and troubleshooting. The role also involves implementing security measures to protect server data and collaborating with other IT teams to integrate systems effectively. Engineers also configure, administer and maintain Cloud and IT Subscription environments, like Microsoft 365, Azure, Citrix and AWS.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for monitoring system performance metrics, analyzing data to identify bottlenecks, and implementing optimization strategies. This includes configuring system parameters, conducting regular performance assessments, and troubleshooting issues to ensure optimal operation of IT systems. The role also involves collaborating with development teams to enhance application performance and ensuring that infrastructure meets the demands of current and future workloads.

Security Implementation and Audits.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for implementing security protocols across systems, conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with security standards, and identifying vulnerabilities. This includes managing access controls, and monitoring system performance to detect potential threats. The role also involves documenting security processes and providing training to team members on best practices.

Troubleshooting System Issues.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex system issues across various platforms. This includes analyzing system logs, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to restore functionality. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure minimal downtime and optimal performance of IT systems. Additionally, the engineer must document troubleshooting processes and solutions for future reference.

Documentation of System Processes.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating comprehensive documentation of system processes. This includes developing standard operating procedures (SOPs), system architecture diagrams, and configuration management records. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure that all technical documentation is accurate and reflects current practices. Additionally, the engineer will conduct regular reviews of documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.

Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for collaborating with various teams including software development, network operations, and security to ensure seamless integration of systems and applications. This role involves participating in design meetings, providing technical guidance on system architecture, troubleshooting cross-team issues, and ensuring that all components work together efficiently. The engineer will also document processes and share knowledge with team members to foster a collaborative environment.

Backup and Disaster Recovery Planning.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust backup and disaster recovery solutions. This includes configuring backup schedules, ensuring data integrity, performing regular recovery tests, and updating disaster recovery plans to align with evolving business needs. The engineer will also monitor backup systems for performance issues and troubleshoot any failures to ensure minimal downtime.

System Upgrades and Patch Management.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for planning, testing, and implementing system upgrades and patches across the IT infrastructure. This includes evaluating new software releases, coordinating with vendors for updates, ensuring compatibility with existing systems, and documenting all changes made. The role also involves monitoring system performance post-upgrade to identify any issues that may arise and providing support to resolve them promptly.

User Access Management and Support.

Engineer III, Systems is responsible for managing user access to systems and applications, ensuring that permissions are granted based on role requirements. This includes configuring user accounts, monitoring access logs for unauthorized attempts, and conducting regular audits of user permissions to maintain security compliance. The specialist will also provide support for user access issues, troubleshoot authentication problems, and implement multi-factor authentication solutions as needed.

Qualifications Education Level: Bachelor\'s Degree

Major: Computer Engineering, Computer Science

Degree must be from an accredited college or university.

Customarily has at least the following experience:

8 years

At least 8 years of experience in systems engineering of Microsoft Windows Server OS.

Hands-on experience administering Active Directory including building AD forests, configuring trust relationships between domains, implementing group policies, managing sites and services, configuring DNS records, administering AD FS.

Experience in configuring Linux OS.

Strong experience in administering Microsoft 365 tenants, including establishing new tenants and migrations from on-premise to Cloud environments or tenant-to-tenant migrations.

Advanced experience in managing Entra ID, Exchange, Intune, Teams, Microsoft 365 Apps; Hybrid Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange environments.

Advanced experience in administering Citrix DaaS, including creating machine catalogs and delivery groups, configuring session policies, deploying and managing Storefront servers.

Experience in writing scripts using PowerShell, Python, Bash or other scripting languages.

Experience in configuring and managing monitoring tools, like Dynatrace, PRTG, SolarWinds or others.

Designing, implementing, and managing virtualization solutions; automating deployments with VMware vSphere or Citrix Workspace.

Network Configuration and Management.

Designing and managing network configurations in server environments; documenting changes and collaborating with IT teams.

Operating Systems Administration (Linux/Windows).

Managing Linux and Windows, including AD forests, GPOs, and patching.

Scripting and Automation.

Developing and maintaining scripts to automate tasks (PowerShell, Bash, Graph).

Database Management.

SQL and NoSQL knowledge with backup and recovery proficiency.

Security Protocols and Compliance Standards.

Implementing security controls, maintaining documentation, training, and incident response.

Backup and Disaster Recovery Solutions.

Designing and testing backup and DR plans, monitoring for failures.

Monitoring and Performance Tuning Tools.

Additional Data While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously sitting for extended periods, frequent walking, and occasional standing. May continuously utilize hands and fingers for typing and operating PC and equipment. Heavy computer usage requiring wrist movement for at least 8 hours per day. Occasional stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, or overhead reaching, and climbing. Ability to hear and understand with clarity and detect sound in conversations. Travel is not required for this position.
