$29.66 - $44.47 per hour (Tessera's compensation strategy is to position new employees between the minimum and midpoint of this range, depending on qualifications and experience.) Work Schedule:
Full-time, Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (Flexible start and end times depending on scheduling needs. This is currently a hybrid position with at least 2 days in office and 3 days working remotely. Schedule is based off of business needs.)
Responsibilities
As a Staff Accountant, you will work independently to perform general ledger accounting tasks, ensuring an accurate and timely month end close.
Prepare various journal entries and account reconciliations for cash, prepaids, accruals, inter-company, fixed assets, payroll, and other accounts for all Tessera Companies.
Coordinate high-volume fixed asset purchases, record the cost of newly acquired fixed assets (tangible and intangible), track existing fixed assets, record depreciation, and account for disposals.
Post customer payments in the ERP system, analyze accounts receivable, and follow up with customers to secure payment.
Maintain balance sheet schedules and produce annual schedules for external audits.
Assist with account analysis and support management in finance department responsibilities.
Record the following: operational expenses for monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes; monthly banking transactions including interest, credit card fees, and loan payments; loan amortization schedules; and related journal entries.
Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for cash, prepaids, accruals, inter-company, fixed assets, payroll, and other accounts for all Tessera Companies.
Record other prepaid transactions, prepaid employee insurance, and prepaid commercial insurance.
Assist with commercial policies, endorsements, additional coverage needs, bond requests for task orders, and contracting estimates for new projects/bids.
Prepare and maintain high-volume fixed assets records, including purchases, transfers, sales/disposals, replacements, and expiring assets.
Manage and process yearly fleet registration renewals for vehicles in various states.
Assist with state and local personal property tax filings for various states.
Record garnishments and union dues.
Verify and record payroll payments, health benefits, and vacation accruals.
Assist with posting customer payments in the ERP system and follow up with customers on overdue accounts.
Prepare analytical and ratio analyses for accounts receivable to inform management on collection progress.
Prepare, approve, and record bank transactions such as wires, ACH, deposits, and loans.
Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities in a prompt and accurate manner aligned with monthly closing deadlines.
Prepare and maintain assigned audit schedules and supporting documentation; request quarterly reviews with management in preparation for annual audit.
Assist in developing and enforcing accounting policies and procedures.
Prepare and maintain proper procedure documentation for assigned tasks and monitor internal controls.
Maintain exceptional customer service to all internal and external customers, including prompt communications and confirming deadlines.

Actively seek opportunities for cross-training within the Finance Team.

Summary of desired skills and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
3 – 5 years of previous experience in accounting or finance is required.
A combination of previous experience and education will be considered.
GAAP, accounting standards, and financial reporting knowledge is preferred.
A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain Tessera’s insurance coverage.
Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative (e.g., U.S. passport or military ID).
A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position; must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
