Geriatric Medicine Nurse Practitioner job with Ascension in Chattanooga, TN. Responsibilities
Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview and examination. Order, perform and interpret diagnostic studies. Perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care. Provide direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources. Counsel and educate patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources. Document delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy. Job Duties
APP works mostly independently but under the direction of a supervising physician. Will provide services at Ascension Living Alexian clinic, and could include rounding on inpatients from time to time but not very often. Typically see 4-6 patients in a clinic setting (2-4 routine assessments, plus 2 urgent visits daily). Geriatric experience is a plus, requires candidates with at least 3+ years of primary care clinic experience. Seeking candidates with a strong initiative, critical thinking skills, emotional maturity and ability to work well within a team setting. Willingness to learn new medical knowledge and skills when needed. Experience in a geriatric setting, palliative care or hospice setting is a great asset. Requirements
BLS Provider (American Heart Association or American Red Cross) required within 30 days of hire. Nurse Practitioner license obtained prior to hire date. Registered Nurse license obtained prior to hire date. Education
Master's degree in Nursing required. Benefits
