Position Overview
The Clinical Director reports directly through the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations to the Chair for the Department of Radiation Oncology. The Clinical Director will have oversight responsibility of all activities associated with the Radiation Oncology Department, including, but not limited to the oversight of the main campus and breast center clinical services, quality of care, resource utilization, protocol and practice guideline development and review, and assuring that the education and training of the Residents and Fellows in radiation oncology is commensurate with their activity and trainees are provided proper supervision. In addition, the Clinical Director will assure that the program meets the accreditation and regulatory standards of the Joint Commission, HIPAA, OSHA, and any other governmental accrediting or regulatory bodies as may be appropriate, while fostering collaboration across clinical, research, and administrative teams. This position also represents the department in institutional and external engagements and drives initiatives to advance patient outcomes, faculty development, and program excellence. In the role as Physician-Clinical, they will provide licensed medical care including diagnosis, treatment (including surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management and clinical research. The Physician manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations. The Physician must be competent in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving the above-mentioned services. The Physician is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and physician’s standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols) and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center. The signature mission of Radiation Oncology at the James Cancer Hospital is to provide state-of-the-art personalized care for our cancer patients by capitalizing upon the unique expertise of our treatment team, implementing cutting-edge technologies geared to eradicate cancer, and conducting cutting-edge clinical, translational, and basic science research. MD or DO; Successful completion of an accredited residency and be Board Certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Radiology. Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
