This position works on an as-needed basis between the hours of Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. Location:
A.D. Marshall Municipal Court Building – 1000 Throckmorton Street, Fort Worth, TX 76102 Employment type:
Part-time position with a maximum of 19 hours per week and not eligible for city benefits. The essential job function requires availability to substitute for the full-time Hearing Officer on an as-needed basis. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice, pre-law, public administration or a related field Two years of increasingly responsible code enforcement or conflict resolution experience
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes, ordinances, and regulations, and the ability to interpret and apply them accordingly Experience in conducting administrative hearings Exercises sound judgment and maintains professionalism in challenging or sensitive situations Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Skilled in conflict resolution and interpersonal relations
The Substitute Hearing Officer Job Responsibilities Include
Hear and resolve various administrative appeals as provided in the City Code, including, but not limited to: Parking citations Junked vehicles Solid waste violations Multifamily dwelling complex registrations Vehicle immobilizations Review parking citations and other paperwork to ensure accuracy and completeness
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Disqualifiers include: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A/B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense, and ALL Family Violence Condictions regardless of class.
