Under the supervision of the Chief Sonographer and Medical Director, this position is responsible for independently performing 2‑dimensional, color Doppler and Doppler echocardiograms and for assisting in inventory of supplies and equipment maintenance. The role requires a high level of knowledge to read and interpret test results, especially abnormal or atypical findings. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Perform 2‑dimensional, color Doppler and Doppler echocardiograms. Proficient in non-imaging continuous Doppler to aid diagnosis of valvular, congenital, systolic, and diastolic conditions. Interpret test results and notify referring physician or house officer with a preliminary report. Assist in scheduling cardiac ultrasound procedures for inpatients and outpatients when there is availability concerns. Maintain inventory of supplies in the Echo Lab. Clean equipment daily with approved hospital disinfectant and follow Infection Control guidelines. Maintain echo equipment; refer difficult problems to the echo supervisor. Review patient charts for pertinent clinical history to perform tests and interpret findings. Explain procedures to patients and position them appropriately for the examination. Perform several portable studies daily requiring mobilization of equipment. Record and review test results for accuracy and prepare test reports using EMR and reporting systems. Maintain testing rooms in clean and orderly condition; dispose of soiled linen and stock supplies. Stay current with developments in cardiac ultrasound technology through journals, seminars, and approved meetings. Perform minor clerical duties as required by the echo supervisor or Technical Director. All duties performed with minimal supervision of the echo supervisor. Job Summary
Responsible for providing leadership, technical expertise, and coordination within the echocardiography department. This role involves performing complex echocardiography procedures, supervising technologists, and ensuring high-quality patient care. Essential Functions
Provide leadership and guidance to echocardiography technologists, including training, mentoring, and performance evaluations. Perform a wide range of echocardiography procedures (transthoracic, transesophageal, stress, and 3D). Ensure accurate image acquisition and interpretation, using advanced techniques as necessary. Review and analyze echocardiogram images for technical quality and adherence to standards. Prepare and position patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns. Oversee maintenance and calibration of echocardiography equipment. Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss cases and assist with interpretation. Maintain accurate records of procedures and findings. Qualifications
Education Bachelor\'s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred; Associate\'s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent with Cardiovascular Technologist Certificate required. Experience cannot substitute for the degree. Licenses and Credentials ARDMS or CCI certification required. Experience Echocardiogram studies experience 3–5 years preferred. Understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics required. Skills and Abilities High level of technical expertise in cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics. Ability to analyze complex cardiac pathologies by echocardiography and provide initial interpretation to referring physicians. Manual dexterity for ultrasound transducers and equipment panels. Strong knowledge of equipment function and ultrasound physics. Excellent communication and teamwork skills; detail-oriented with ability to maintain records. Flexibility and willingness to work weekend shifts; able to perform bedside echocardiograms in ICU. Ability to work collaboratively in changing environments. Work Details
