Cardiac Sonographer / Senior Echo Technician Mass General Brigham (Brigham & Women's Hospital, Inc.) – Boston Main Campus, 70 Francis Street, Boston, MA (Onsite, Day Shift, 40 hours per week, Regular, $37.55–$55.48 hourly).

Responsibilities

Independently perform 2‑dimensional, color Doppler, and continuous Doppler echocardiograms; review images and provide preliminary interpretation to referring physicians.

Assist in scheduling cardiac ultrasound procedures for inpatients and outpatients and maintain accurate scheduling records.

Maintain inventory of echo supplies and perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment.

Record and review test results; prepare accurate reports using electronic medical records and reporting systems.

Participate in quality‑control activities, troubleshoot minor equipment issues, and refer complex problems to the echo supervisor.

Educate and orient new echo technicians; collaborate with the Chief Sonographer and Medical Director to ensure high‑quality examinations.

Perform bedside echocardiograms in intensive care units and accommodate weekend shifts as needed.

Qualifications Education:

Associate’s Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or equivalent program with a Cardiovascular Technologist Certificate required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. A valid ARDCS or CCI certification is required.

Experience:

Minimum 2 years as a registered echocardiography or vascular technologist; thorough knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics.

Skills & Abilities:

Expert technical knowledge of cardiac echo imaging and ability to perform complex cardiac pathologies analysis.

Strong analytical skills for initial interpretation of findings.

Good manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and understanding of ultrasound physics.

Excellent communication skills with patients, staff, and physicians.

Flexibility to work weekends and perform bedside echo in critical care settings.

Physical Requirements

Standing 34–66% of the shift; walking 34–66%; walking to lifting >35 lb occasionally; carrying 20–35 lb frequently.

Other tasks include kneeling, crouching, reaching, and gross handling.
