SENIOR TRANSPORTATION ENGINEER, CALTRANS Job Posting: Construction Engineer. Department of Transportation. JC-493903. Construction Engineer. Salary: $11,437.00 - $14,315.00 per month. Under general direction of the Construction Office Chief, the incumbent serves as a Construction Engineer and/or as a Resident Engineer on a complex project (or group of projects) requiring a large staff to monitor the contractor\'s operations. Responsibilities include directing the processing of payments to contractors and change orders; planning, organizing, and directing the difficult engineering and administrative tasks of the District Construction Field Office; and directing the processing of Construction Contract Claims. Possession of a valid certificate of registration as an Engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is required. PARF# 05-6-539/ JC- 493903. Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer exam. For those who do not have current eligibility and/or who will be new to state civil services employment, you must be on the state examination list to be eligible for these positions. If basing eligibility on education, include unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Foreign transcripts/degrees require a U.S. equivalency evaluation. Special Requirements include possession of a valid driver\'s license when operating a State owned or leased vehicle. A Statement Of Qualifications (SOQ) is required and must be submitted with the State application. The SOQ must address the specified evaluation criteria and not exceed two pages in length. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, including presentations. Knowledge and experience tracking cost, scope, schedule, and operating budgets; identifying and resolving issues. Knowledge and experience in project delivery, highway construction and design. Ability to independently lead teams. Experience managing complex projects and preparing contingencies. Ability to develop and strengthen partnerships through communication and collaboration. Work location: 35 S. La Patera Lane, Suite E, Goleta, Santa Barbara County. May require field exposure to hazardous conditions; wear hard hat, safety vest/shirt, and eye protection in the field. Occasional travel and overnight stays may be required. This position may be eligible for telework; in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs.
