Role Summary

The work you'll do is more than just a job. Telework and travel : Telework Within Minnesota and flexible hours options are available. Statewide travel is possible 10-15% of the time. Employees living 50 miles or less from their primary work location and within the State may telework more than 50% with approval.

Responsibilities Supervise staff to achieve the objectives of the Safety and Family Preservation Unit, including hiring, promotion, performance evaluation, reward/discipline, assignment of work, grievance handling, and labor contract administration.

Supervise the development, administration and implementation of policy and guidance related to the upfront child protection response, ensuring strategic alignment with division goals and statewide priorities.

Participate in planning and priority setting with other policy, program and support areas to create alignment and build organizational effectiveness.

Maintain proficiency in child safety and family preservation efforts; stay current with research and emerging programs to ensure continuous quality improvement.

Provide direction and support to further the mission, vision and values of the Child Safety and Permanency Administration and DCYF.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.

Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervision roles, program leadership, or committee leadership with a minimum of 1 year identifying issues, goals and strategic actions (100+ hours/year).

Four (4) years of specialized professional work experience working/managing child welfare programs including strategic planning and directing the work of staff, with knowledge of federal/state laws and regulations related to child welfare; experience partnering with communities and individuals experiencing oppression and systemic bias; public policy analysis and development; and program planning.

Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in social work, child welfare, public administration, or related field.

Analytical and written communication skills to interpret and draft policy; ability to analyze complex policy and program issues.

Strong human relations and collaboration skills to work with diverse stakeholders and lead teams.

Negotiation and mediation skills to resolve differences and advocate for agency positions.

Ability to assess policy impacts and understand complex inter-relationships of programs and services.

Additional Requirements

Background investigation required prior to employment, which may include reference check, criminal background check, fingerprinting, and personnel file review for current and former public sector employees.
