The Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS) was established through a 10-year partnership between Cancer Council NSW and UNSW Sydney to advance health and prosperity for all cancer survivors. The Centre will co-design, evaluate and implement evidence-based interventions to improve care, wellbeing and survivorship outcomes, guiding practice, services and policy across NSW and serving as a model nationally and internationally. Role The Research Leads will report to Professor Bogda Koczwara AM and will shape the Centre’s research strategy across four themes: Person-Centred Care in Cancer Survivorship – advancing holistic, equitable and empowering models of care that place survivors at the heart of the health system. Behaviour and Health – exploring behavioural, psychological and social factors affecting wellbeing after diagnosis. Survivorship Epidemiology – investigating long-term health outcomes, quality of life, and disparities through large-scale, data-driven research. Precision Survivorship – tailoring survivorship care informed by molecular, genetic, behavioural and environmental factors. These roles offer an opportunity for accomplished academic leaders to advance world-leading survivorship research, build national and international partnerships, secure competitive funding and mentor the next generation of researchers. Skills Required A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience. Extensive leadership experience in the relevant professional field. Commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments. Excellent leadership of research projects and teams. Substantial experience in high-quality supervision of honours and postgraduate research projects. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to work across disciplines and organisations. Ability to mentor and support other academics; commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Experience in developing relationships with industry and community and attracting industry funding. Understanding of UNSW aims, objectives and policies. Ability to lead implementation and effectiveness of safety management systems.
