HDR is seeking an Electrical Business Class Leader for our Building Engineering Services (BES) Business Group in Folsom or Walnut Creek, CA. Leaders in this role influence culture, morale, recruiting, and provide leadership in pursuit and delivery of work. They possess deep engineering expertise and understand cross-discipline team functions, combining this knowledge with leadership skills to drive business success. The Electrical Business Class Leader will oversee electrical engineering expertise, supervise and mentor staff, and produce electrical system designs for markets including Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Federal, Resources, Transportation, Healthcare, Technology, and Commercial. Responsibilities include managing the Northern California BES electrical team, staff development, workflow, proposals, scheduling, profitability, morale, and quality control. They will serve as a technical project lead and staff manager, involved in client interactions, project production, and policy implementation. The individual should be self-motivated, collaborative, and possess strong leadership skills with a focus on delivering high-quality electrical designs. They will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams throughout project lifecycles, developing construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and reviewing shop drawings. Key duties include: Monitoring and improving technical competencies within the team Participating in project delivery to meet client expectations Collaborating on business efforts with operations, marketing, and project management Engaging in practice groups, project teams, and quality reviews Strategic planning, budgeting, and implementation Working with other leaders and managers on business efforts Supporting staff development, profitability, and morale Assisting with project management and client marketing Leading and coordinating services across disciplines Participating in marketing, proposals, and client relations Ensuring effective project planning, organization, and control Supporting company policies and staff training Preferred qualifications include: Active involvement in professional associations Master's degree in electrical engineering Experience with A/E firms or consulting Electrical PE licensure in California Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SKM software, and lighting modeling tools Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or related field Minimum 10 years of relevant experience Professional registration and technical expertise Experience managing diverse teams and collaborating across departments Active participation in our employee-owned culture We believe in building a collaborative culture that values diverse perspectives and fosters trust.
