Primary Purpose of Organization Unit:
Enterprise Applications develops and implements new applications for university personnel and supports maintenance, administration, and data integrations for enterprise systems.
Primary Purpose of Position:
The Director of Enterprise Applications provides strategic and operational leadership for enterprise application systems, focusing on Ellucian Banner ERP. Responsibilities include design, development, integration, support, reporting, and leadership of a team of programmers, business systems analysts, and BI analysts. Oversees second- and third-level support for enterprise applications.

Employees should reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station and must work in North Carolina.
This is a supervisory-focused position with responsibilities including delegation, oversight of EA-related projects, and delivering enterprise solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Oversight: plan, implement, and support enterprise applications (Banner ERP and ecosystem); liaison between IT and university departments; manage integrations; oversee reporting with Argos, Tableau, and other tools; mentor development and BI teams.
Team Leadership & Development: manage staffing, performance evaluations, staff development, and governance participation; supervise developers, DBAs, and analysts.
Budget & Resource Management: develop and manage budgets, oversee contracts and licensing, optimize expenditures, allocate resources, and coordinate with finance and procurement.
ERP System Support & Troubleshooting: leadership in Banner ERP support, coordinate with Ellucian and vendors, lead root cause analyses.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: plan with academic and administrative departments, translate needs into technical requirements, oversee enterprise projects.
Governance & Compliance: ensure data governance, security, and compliance; maintain documentation and audit trails.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: stay current with new technologies and modernize legacy systems; lead improvement initiatives.
Project Portfolio Oversight: direct full lifecycle of projects; remove roadblocks to maintain momentum.
Cross-Functional Coordination: primary contact for enterprise projects; plan and communicate timelines and responsibilities.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting: establish KPIs; report to senior leadership; adapt strategies as needed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Minimum of two (2) years in enterprise application management within higher education.
Experience with Banner ERP 8 or 9, including upgrades and module integrations.
Proficiency in Argos, Tableau, Power BI; experience with WebFocus and other reporting platforms.
Strong understanding of data governance, system architecture, and integration practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud-hosted ERP environments and hybrid integrations.
Familiarity with student information systems, financial aid, HR/payroll, and academic scheduling modules.
Knowledge of FERPA, HIPAA, and GLBA.
Experience with Banner ERP integrations (e.g., Canvas, TargetX, Pathify, Softdocs, Ellucian Ethos, Touchnet, Blackbaud).
Management Preference 3 years of Banner ERP security management or comparable ERP; 3 years of SQL experience (tables, views, triggers); 3 years of Oracle and SQL Server database experience; understanding of agile methodologies; working experience with Banner and student portals.
