Overview
The Medication Care Manager is responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services by administering medication and treatments in a safe organized manner, and for documenting medication administration while promoting the Sunrise Mission to champion the quality of life for all seniors in accordance with laws and Sunrise policies. Responsibilities
Medication Administration: provide the highest quality care by administering medications and treatments in a safe, organized manner. Documentation: review, read, notate, and initial the electronic health record to document pertinent information about residents; document and initial as medications are given; report refusals or missed doses. Coordination: receive medication updates from the Resident Care Director (RCD) or Wellness Nurse; assist with and observe medications and treatments; restock medication cart; assist in checking medication regardless of packaging system. Compliance and Safety: maintain confidentiality of resident information; ensure medications are passed according to times; follow re-fill processes and safety procedures; manage the Medication Room and carts; adhere to Six Rights of Medication Pass. Resident Care and Communication: assess resident needs for as-needed medications and communicate with supervisor; notify RCD of resident or family concerns; participate in daily meetings and contribute to Individualized Service Plans (ISP). Risk Management and General Safety: ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements; practice PPE, fire safety, SDS, lockout/tagout; report accidents and hazardous conditions; ensure safe storage of oxygen tanks and safe disposal of hazardous materials. Training and Teamwork: participate as a team member; support Sunrise principles of service; engage in training and meetings; maintain required trainings. Qualifications
High School diploma/GED (as required by state/provincial regulations). Maintain relevant certifications (e.g., CPR and First Aid) as required by Sunrise and regulations. Must be at least 18 years of age. Previous experience with seniors preferred; desire to serve and care for seniors. In applicable locations, must sign and understand the Driver job description if driving a Sunrise vehicle. About Sunrise & Benefits
