California Air Resources Board
AIR RESOURCES ENGINEER
California Air Resources Board, Sacramento, California, United States, 95828
Job Description
The Climate Change Mitigation and Emissions Research (CCMER) Section is seeking motivated individuals with strong scientific knowledge and technical skill to join our team as an Air Resources Engineer. The Section develops and conducts policy-relevant in-house and extramural research to support CARB mobile source programs and policies. The Section’s research efforts aim to understand in-use fleet emission characteristics to achieve further NOx reductions from heavy-duty trucks and off-road equipment, investigate regulatory options using large datasets, explore low-carbon transportation technologies, and understand emission and socioeconomic benefits of low-carbon fuel and transportation technologies, including non-exhaust emissions such as brake-, tire-, and wheel-wear emissions. Working independently and under the general direction of the Air Resources Supervisor I (ARS I), the incumbent should lead multiple research projects, enhance the Section’s scientific, analytical, and technical capacity, and conduct technical and scientific evaluations of existing mobile source emissions research. A key role is to work collaboratively with internal and external partners, identify and initiate exhaust and non-exhaust emissions research needs for mobile sources, conduct and manage research projects, and inform CARB programs with research findings. The incumbent should be able to work independently and collaboratively within and beyond CARB, build consensus on research directions, participate in workgroups and committees of professional organizations, and maintain productive relations with CARB. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement. Special Requirements

The SOQ must demonstrate the applicant’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. Cover letters and resumes do not replace the SOQ. Include Name and Job Control Number on the SOQ. Maximum two pages (Arial 12, single-spaced, 1-inch margins). Application Instructions
