Pharmacy Managers lead and develop a pharmacy team to deliver exceptional patient care, promote best practices, and drive results while ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop the pharmacy team to provide exceptional patient care through safe dispensing, counseling, immunizing practices, and guideline adherence.
Oversee bench shifts, coach performance, and follow up with team members to improve pharmacy performance measures.
Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails.
Deliver compassionate patient experiences, coordinate with the patient’s healthcare team, and resolve insurance or medication issues.
Offer and administer immunizations where permissible; mentor Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization practices.
Manage pharmacy inventory with focus on protecting cold chain products and applying inventory best practices.
Conduct onboarding for new Technicians and Pharmacists, including CVS workflow training and ensuring timely completion of required trainings and licensure.
Maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues to appropriate leadership as needed.
Partner with Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline and ensure timely licensure training completion.
Supervise Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (where applicable), conduct performance reviews, and address gaps.
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; develop and manage the pharmacy schedule.
Review business reporting to identify operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps in workflow, service, patient care, and compliance.
Foster a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; encourage feedback and take appropriate action.
Maintain clinical and technical skills with ongoing trainings and continuing education to support patient care.
Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical services where permitted (e.g., testing and prescribing services).
Understand and comply with federal/state laws, regulations, and CVS Health policies; ensure privacy and safe, inclusive workplace practices.
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Essential Functions
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, switch between tasks as needed, ensure prescription accuracy
Customer Service and Team Orientation: proactively assist patients and collaborate with the healthcare team
Communication Skills: verbal and written communication; active listening
Mathematical Reasoning: determine days’ supply, quantity, and similar calculations
Problem Resolution: address challenging interactions and determine best course of action
Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, repetitive hand/finger use, visual acuity
Team Management and Leadership: lead by example, delegate, motivate, coach, and coach staff as needed
Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader program
3-5 years of related experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service
Ability to work in the home store and across markets to meet business needs
Anticipated Weekly Hours 33
Time Type Full time
Pay Range The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $65.00 - $82.00
This position is eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission, or short-term incentive in addition to base pay.
