Brown University is seeking a Program Manager for the Equitable Climate Futures (ECF) Initiative and the Academic Climate Leadership Group (ACLG) within the Institute at Brown for Environment and Society (IBES). This is a term-limited position with potential for renewal; the current end date is 09/01/2026. The role involves leading strategy, program development, and cross-campus collaboration to advance climate and sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities
Serve as a key leader shaping the vision, strategy, and execution of the Equitable Climate Futures (ECF) Initiative and the Academic Climate Leadership Group (ACLG). Oversee multidisciplinary collaboration among Brown faculty, students, and external partners, shaping programmatic infrastructure and ensuring equity and justice are integrated into the work. Partner with ECF Faculty Co-Directors to refine and implement strategic goals; support ECF communications, fundraising, HR, and administrative activities. Lead administration and momentum of ACLG, coordinating activities across departments, schools, and Institutes involved in climate-focused programming. Serve as liaison to relevant offices (e.g., Office of Resilience and Facilities) and support fundraising assets and gift proposals in coordination with Brown Advancement. Plan and execute short- and long-term goals, relationships, and events to raise Brown’s climate solutions profile; foster cross-campus engagement and collaborative action. Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (Master’s or higher) preferred in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, public policy, public health, etc.). Minimum of three years of work experience involving project management and/or research. Demonstrated commitment to climate, environment, and/or sustainability. Proven ability to manage complex projects and collaborate across disciplines and sectors. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Preferred Qualifications
1–2 years of leadership experience in program management, administration, or leadership roles, preferably in academia. Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and financial management. Job Competencies
