Job Purpose And Summary Within our Retail locations, District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence by modeling our values and delivering compassionate care. DSPs travel within the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled, oversee pharmacy operations, and support the pharmacy team in stores throughout the district. Responsibilities include managing pharmacy workflow, ensuring safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, and acting as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts when needed. Responsibilities
Help manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled and oversee the pharmacy in the Pharmacy Manager’s absence
Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following workflow procedures and safety guardrails
Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the primary pharmacist-on-duty
Provide and promote compassionate patient care, collaborate with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactively resolve insurance and medication issues
Offer and support immunizations and coach Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization procedures
Support inventory management with emphasis on cold chain protection
Maintain flexible scheduling and contribute to a safe, inclusive team dynamic
Maintain clinical and technical skills through required trainings and continuing education
Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical services where permissible
Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and CVS Health policies
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
Essential Functions
Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot between tasks to meet patient and business needs, verify prescription information and labeling accuracy
Customer Service and Team Orientation: proactively help people and respond to patient reactions appropriately
Communication Skills: clear verbal and written communication, active listening
Mathematical Reasoning: calculate days’ supply, quantity, and related dispensing calculations
Problem Resolution: address challenging interactions and select appropriate actions
Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, fine motor tasks, visual acuity, and ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed
Ability to receive and convey detailed information orally
Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
