$5,892.00-$7,930.00 The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Licensed Practical Nurse 4 for the Airway Heights Corrections Center in Airway Heights, WA. This position works Tuesday-Saturday, 2:00pm-10:30pm. Under the direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse 4 supports the Department’s mission to improve public safety by assisting in the implementation of the nursing process and delivering services to promote health, foster healing, and support coping and adjustment of various health conditions. The Airway Heights Correction Center facility offers both inpatient and outpatient care to treat a diverse patient population with varying levels of health needs: Our Inpatient unit offers 21 beds to provide acute care in a step-down infirmary setting. DOC treats many chronic diseases with this facility specializing in liver disease, cancer care and HEP-C. The Outpatient clinic sees between 10-50 patients a day for a variety of reasons and treatments. Practice nursing safely and effectively in the correctional setting and within the scope of practice defined by state law and administrative code. Monitor and collect data about health status and clinical conditions; report results to the Registered Nurse. Assist the Registered Nurse in developing nursing diagnoses and outcomes. Contribute to the plan of nursing care and assist in prioritizing and sequencing care. Carry out the plan of care, perform therapeutic nursing interventions, and communicate urgency and methods for care delivery. Assist in analysis and evaluation of service delivery and revise the plan of care as necessary. Use safety techniques to push, pull, lift, and carry loads as required by policies. Communication and Documentation
Communicate effectively with offenders, families, health care personnel, custody, and institutional staff. Document findings and actions legibly; protect confidentiality of health records; coordinate care with providers. Complete incident and data collection reports as directed; respond to requests from staff. Medication Administration
Under RN delegation, oversee medication administration area and patient care in that area. Participate in medication lines and administer medications as ordered; prepare release medications for transfers or releases. Patient Care
Serve as lead clinical nurse in the treatment room as delegated; participate in treatments, dressing changes, vital signs, and minor procedures within scope. Evaluate and carry out practitioners orders; provide emergency medical care including CPR. Self-Evaluation and Professional Conduct
Supervise and assign tasks to nursing staff; delegate care considering patient condition and risk. Instruct, monitor, supervise, and evaluate task results; provide feedback to supervising RN. Qualifications
Initial and continuous unencumbered licensure in the State of Washington as a Licensed Practical Nurse, or an unencumbered Multi-State License from a participating Compact Licensure State with completion of the MSL demographic survey. Two years’ experience as an LPN. American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR training. Proficient in computer-based programs for scheduling, data entry, and communication. Must have work authorization; no sponsorship expected. Salary determined at final offer; range includes longevity steps. DOC complies with I-9; provide proof of identity and work eligibility.
