Retail Operations Manager at PetSmart Charities

Responsibilities
People Leadership
Participates in employment decisions such as recruiting, interviewing, and coaching.
Facilitates the associate experience and supports associate development; ensures associates are trained, onboarded, reviewed, and coached for accountability.
Addresses and administers associate complaints and grievances.
Prioritizes, delegates, and validates daily tasks for associates to meet business and pet parent needs.
Leads and coaches associates on proper operational processes to ensure pets in our care are safe and healthy.
Coordinates staffing coverage for process activities in pivotal areas of the store.
Validates completion of operational messages and engagement video compliance.
Communicates company information and priorities to associates to ensure alignment.
Recognizes and celebrates associates driving overall associate engagement.
Overall Store Experience
Accountable for healthcare and care of store-owned pets, including habitats and sick pet care.
Oversees inventory management and pricing processes, including receiving, stocking, counts, and planogram sets.
Evaluates operations and seeks opportunities to improve experiences and services.
Maintains vendor relationships, backroom standards, and communication boards.
Oversees Buy Online and Pick Up In Store and Ship From Store programs.
Identifies sales trends through analysis and merchandising activities.
Makes sound merchandising decisions regarding discretionary space and discontinued merchandise.
Maintains store standards and leads a culture of empowerment and policy compliance.
Ensures a safe environment for associates, pets, and pet parents.
Partners in action for sick/injured pets and supports store opening/closing procedures.
Expense Management
Drives opportunities to grow the business and holds associates accountable for store P&L targets.
Analyzes inventory management reporting to identify trends and root causes.
Manages expenses such as labor and supplies; coordinates with Home Office for work orders and purchasing.
Qualifications
3+ years of retail leadership or experience in a customer-focused environment.
Full-time availability; ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in maintaining a visually appealing store layout.
Supervisory Responsibility
Typically oversees up to three lead associates and up to forty non-leader associates.
Responsible for employment decisions and associate development.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, and write; may require reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching; vision requirements apply.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and occasionally more than 100 pounds with team assistance.
Exposure to pet hair, movement, and live animals; moderate to high noise levels at times; reasonable accommodations available.
