Loyal Source Government Services As an Examiner, you will be conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in-service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required for this position. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran by providing an exceptional experience during these examinations to positively impact each Veteran. These Medical Disability Examinations are crucial in the VA’s process for determining benefits Veterans can receive as a result of service-connected health issues. Our clinical insights will play a significant role in facilitating access to treatment subspecialists when necessary, creating continuity of care for those who need it most. Clinical Examiners will use a web-based examination form in a proprietary online system to capture patient information throughout the examination process. Qualified candidates must hold an active license, be able to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and be adaptable to changing situations. Job Details Base + Monthly Incentive = $158,778 - $188,780 per year Responsibilities Conduct Comprehensive Medical Disability Examinations: perform thorough medical evaluations of Veterans, including reviewing medical history, conducting physical examinations, and assessing the impact of disabilities on daily life and functional abilities. Travel up to 10% to other Loyal Source clinics. Review and Analyze Medical Records: assess medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to understand the Veteran’s medical history and health condition. Render Objective Medical Opinions: provide unbiased, evidence-based medical opinions on the extent of health issues and their impact on ability to work and daily activities. Manage Case Workflows: understand and work in the case management system, organize workload, submit examination findings, and communicate with the Quality Assurance Team. Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals: coordinate with other healthcare professionals to obtain additional information as needed. Document Findings: record examination findings and recommendations in reports that follow VA guidelines and contractual obligations. Coordinate Across Departments: partner with Loyal Source departments to gain support and meet deadlines for optimal performance. Time Management: manage scheduling and availability for all C&P exams in a timely manner. Ensure Compliance and Quality: adhere to laws, regulations, and standards related to disability examinations with accuracy and fairness. QA Collaboration: work with the QA team to submit thorough examination findings. VA Training Compliance: comply with VA training requirements and stay updated on VA MDE program requirements. Confidentiality: safeguard patient information in accordance with privacy and security protocols, including HIPAA compliance. Pass annual HIPAA assessment with required score. Qualifications Education and Licensing: Graduate of an accredited nursing school with a valid, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license; not barred from practicing in any U.S. state or territory. Experience: at least 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner; prior medical disability examination experience preferred. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, including renewals. Military Experience: previous military experience or familiarity with military or veteran communities preferred. Training: completion of specialized training or continuing education in Medical Disability Evaluations, occupational health, or related areas advantageous. Clinical Skills: proficiency in conducting medical assessments, interpreting tests, and forming evidence-based opinions. Soft Skills: empathy, communication, ethics, integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in a team. Work Authorization: authorized to work in the United States, including compliance with federal contractor requirements. Additional Requirements Reasoning Ability: apply common sense, follow instructions, and handle problems with a few variables. Technological Ability: proficient with MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe PDF, EMR systems; familiarity with Teams and LMS preferred. Physical Requirements: ability to stand/sit for prolonged periods, lift up to 15 pounds, and perform full-range examinations. Travel: 10% travel required to support other clinics; additional travel for training or events. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; holidays clinics are closed.
