Please review the job profile below and apply today! We are seeking an exceptional Assistant Store Director to join Meijer and support our North Detroit Market. The selected candidate must be able to travel to or be placed at any of the following store locations throughout the North Detroit Market: Auburn Hills, MI Rochester Hills, MI 23 Mile Rd - Chesterfield, MI Lapeer, MI Port Huron, MI Washington Twp, MI Oxford Twp, MI Marysville, MI Lenox Twp, MI Adams Rd - Rochester Hills, MI Macomb, MI Lake Orion, MI As an Assistant Store Director, you will provide direction related to operations, processes, and conditions of the store. Your responsibilities include planning, directing, and supervising the team in the day-to-day store operations, including selection, training, development, and performance management of team members. You will develop strategies to improve customer service, drive sales, and increase profitability. Ensuring customer needs are met, complaints are resolved effectively, and displays are merchandised to maximize sales are also key aspects of this role. You will forecast staffing needs and develop recruiting strategies to ensure optimal staffing levels. Purpose: The key responsibilities include: Overall operations responsibility across food and general merchandise areas. Management of planograms, seasonal resets, and endcaps. Engaging and leading team members to provide the best shopping experience. Creating a culture of positive engagement and talent retention. Talent identification, selection, and development within the store. Upholding cultural standards and values through effective communication. Assessing financial results and implementing strategies to improve store profitability. Developing strategies to enhance customer service, sales, and profitability. Ensuring product displays are merchandised effectively to maximize sales. Building relationships within the local community to support the Meijer brand. What You'll be Doing: Assisting the Store Director in overall store operations as needed. Leading performance management activities for leaders and team members. Attracting, selecting, and retaining a diverse team supporting Meijer’s culture. Communicating regularly with the team through meetings and updates. Driving open and honest communication based on Meijer’s Care and Accountability philosophy. Ensuring product freshness standards and operational procedures are followed. Managing store operations in the absence of the Store Director. Verifying compliance with food safety standards. Engaging with the community and customers to foster relationships. Delivering on key performance metrics including sales, shrink, labor, margin, profit, customer satisfaction, and safety. Implementing new initiatives and staying informed on market trends. Overseeing daily store functions like DSD, backroom, and salesfloor excellence. Monitoring competitive trends and adjusting strategies accordingly. Following merchandising plans and designing store layouts and displays. What You Bring with You (Qualifications): Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Minimum 5+ years of retail, grocery, or operations management experience. 4+ years of progressive leadership experience. A passion for leading teams and providing excellent service. Proactive and creative thinking skills. Knowledge of seasonal and diverse merchandising. Strong business acumen. Innovative attitude to help Meijer set industry standards. Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.
