Job Purpose and Summary: Our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within each pharmacy, acting as role models for the team, and setting the bar for the pharmacy group. DSPs work across the district to cover pharmacist scheduling gaps under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager (PM) and Rx District Leader (DL) to support pharmacy teams and oversee operations when working in stores throughout the district.
Responsibilities
Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.
Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled; oversee the pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts when needed.
Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and using safety guardrails at every workstation.
Assume Pharmacy Manager’s day-to-day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist on duty.
Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the team to do the same, collaborating with the patient’s healthcare team, and resolving insurance or medication issues.
Offer and deliver immunizations and engage Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization.
Manage pharmacy inventory across pharmacies worked, following inventory best practices with focus on protecting cold chain products.
Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, contributing to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.
Maintain clinical and technical skills with required trainings and CMEs; seek opportunities to expand knowledge to support patients.
Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care where permissible (e.g., testing and prescribing services such as COVID/Flu, Hormonal Contraception).
Comply with applicable federal and state laws, professional standards, CVS Health policies, and privacy/security requirements; ensure safe controlled substance dispensing and recordkeeping.
Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
Essential Functions
Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks; pivot quickly between tasks to meet patient and business needs; confirm prescription information and labeling accuracy
Customer Service and Team Orientation: help people in a friendly manner; respond to patient reactions appropriately
Communication Skills: use verbal and written communication; active listening
Mathematical Reasoning: calculate days supply, number of tablets, and related quantities
Problem Resolution: resolve challenging patient or colleague interactions
Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger use, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and ability to lift up to 20 lbs; ability to perform essential tasks safely
Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager
Preferred Qualifications
1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Additional Information Anticipated weekly hours: 10; Time Type: Part time
Pay Range: $60.00 - $71.00 per hour (base). The actual base salary offer depends on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
